Happy Independence Day, America

Yes, it’s a day late, but I was out partying last night with the rest of America. Today, it’s the day to get busy. I have been advertising more of my freelance writing business on Twitter and will soon do the same thing with Instagram, posting tips on content digital marketing. It’s my hope that companies will see that and want to contact me for my services.

After being in the SEO game for over a decade, I’ve learned a thing or two about strategies that can ensure companies shoot to the top of search engines, reaching their intended audience. Some of these strategies include:

  1. The right keywords in the right place - in the past, stuffing keywords in an article just to ensure Google would pick up the right words for their search engine used to be the big thing - not anymore. It matters where you place specific keywords, so they read naturally and never forced.
  2. Long enough meta descriptions that targets the audience and calls for action, but doesn’t bog down the message.
  3. Keyword density - it’s important to get the right SEO keywords, in the right place, with the right amount, whether it be in a blog, website, or article.
  4. Target the intended audience with buzz words - if you live on the west or east coast and your business mainly comes from tourists, including buzz words in your content can attract a potential customer, patient, or client. For instance, if someone is looking for a smart car to get the best gas mileage in California for a site-seeing adventure, they may be looking at price, availability, and convenience - those elements should be key players and included in your content right from the get-go. And as always, at the conclusion of the article or blog post is a call-to-action, including contact information and hours of operation.
  5. Target the geography within 20 mile radius - too long and you may get people who balk at driving 30 minutes away for a product or service, and too short of a distance may result in missing a number of potential customers or patients. Targeting around 8-10 cities within your business’s location should be enough to attract the right audience.
These are just a few strategies to increase your traffic, thus your bottomline.
